-4 (+100) is a better bet than -180, right? I've been reading about betting lines in Getting the Best of It and want to make sure that I understand what I've read.

In the NFL I have -4 +100 equivalent to a ML of -185. Meaning, the -180 is usually slightly better.

I was operating under the assumpion that each point occurs about 2.5% of the time, as stated in the book. Is this assumption outdated, or was my math just wrong? Thanks for the help.

It isn't exactly linear. Certain numbers like 3 and 7 are more common, so it clumps a bit. Check out SportsbookPal.com (http://www.sportsbookpal.com) for a line converter, and a database of NFL results dating back to 1993.
