Whos is playing in Event #2 again this year? We tried a 2p2 meetup last year but it didn't work too great.

I just registered through Pokerstars for this event... hopefully we can do a get-together around 10:30 - 11am at the Rio this time..

I'll be there unless I have to be an alternate or something. Although I'm planning on pre-registering on Wednesday, so hopefully I wouldn't get left out.

I am planning to go, but haven't pre-registered. This is my first non-circuit WSOP. Is pre-registration required or can you walk up and pay/register the night before?

Last year, walkups were either denied or had to become alternates...

Preregister if you can

With 1000's and 1000's of people, it's pretty hard to run into anyone. But if anyone sees one of the tallest people in the room that looks like this guy (http://www.twoplustwo.com/magazine/current/toth0606.html) be sure to say hello (I'm not positive yet when I'm getting out there, but it'll be probably the last week or so of July).

I registered yesterday for event #2 while at the Rio for the weekend. I left Vegas last night, but will return on the 26th for a week or so. If anyone wants to hook up for a bite to eat and some poker talk feel free to PM me when you get there.

FYI, I was talking to some of the Rio folks and they mentioned that they thought the tournament will not be in the Amazon room, but will be in a room that isn't as far down the corridor (they weren't certain about it though). However, one thing that they were sure of was that this year there will be a bunch of 'fixed' cash game tables. About 50 in all. Remember last year they used the tables in the front -- when available -- for cash games? I wonder what other adjustments they will make. Anyone hear? I assume that they will have more bathrooms available and the food options will be better this time.

The Rio sure has a different vibe when the WSOP is not going on. It's a very cheesey place without the series, but sure gets more fun and upscale when the series starts. I will say that their 2/5 NL poker game was great. It was very easy to get a seat and there were a bunch of very loose and fun players. On both Friday and Sat nights we were able to get a $5/10 NL game going too. Great fun. In contrast to the Rio, I played some 5/10 at the Bellagio on Sunday, it was a MUCH tougher game.

I pray that you make a big score this year because taking at least 1/2 of it from you in heads up matches will be like taking candy from a baby.

The Pavilion Room is booked for conventions, including the WSOP Gaming Life Expo on July 27-30, so that room won't be available for the WSOP.

The only room at the Rio that is big enough for the WSOP
are the Pavilion and the Amazon rooms.

By process of elimination, the WSOP is stuck at the Amazon room for 2006.

I'm not arguing that it's NOT in the Amazon room, but the dealer (who will be a floor person for the Series) told me that it wouldn't be in the Amazon room. I mentioned that I thought the Amazon room was the biggest room. He said that all of the rooms have removable walls so there were plenty of places for them to have it. He also said there will be 30-60 more tables this year and it certainly seemed like the place was maxed out in the Amazon room. I was in one of the first rooms on the right (across from where the Gaming Life exhibition was last year) on Friday to register for an invitational tournament the Rio had this weekend and the room was huge. Assuming that they could open it up further and bring in some more rooms it would easily be bigger than the Amazon room. Assuming the WSOP was there it might make sense since it would be closer to the first bunch of bathrooms in that initial round staging area.

I'm just reporting what the guy said, I have no idea where it will be. It sure would be nice if it wasn't so far down though!

In.

I'll be staying at the Bellagio from Sunday through Friday. Tentative plans to play the Bellagio $540 on Sunday, although may just play cash. Monday, I'm tentatively planning to play Rio SNGs all day, although again my play cash at Bellagio instead or maybe somewhere else. Tuesday-Thursday, win Event #2 obv.

they had a kid's dance convention or something like that last year. i'm assuming rio is not going to rent out much of the convention area during the series this time because of the problems last year. so, this DOES leave a lot of rooms. also, i have heard that smaller events might be played in one of these 'other' rooms, thus freeing up lots of space for cash games/satellites.

In, getting into town early tomorrow (already registered through Bodog). Anyone have any idea about how long the lines for finalizing your registration should be tomorrow? I should be in ~9am.

Nevermind... I figured it out, but looks like you have to buy them w/ W$'s, and its only for TV events, and you have to wear Pstars gear.

I was down there just now picking up Bracelet Race winnings from the FTP area, and was told a rumor's going around that Event #2 may end up being uncapped.

No knowledge as to the rumor being true or not.

Just FYI.

Went down to the Rio this evening and played some satellites, unfotunately too late to be anything other than an alternate for event 2 tomorrow, so I guess I'll play the $2k NL on Saturday instead... Anyone else?
