A friend of mine insists he has a betting strategy to beat BJ by just playing 1-7 hands without counting. He plays 1 hand and if he wins he plays 2 and so on. If he is playing 2-7 and loses he then plays one again and so on. If he pushes then he repeats the same bet and just plays the same amount every hand. -EV is -EV or am I missing something???

Thanks

Risk of ruin is 100% regardless of bankroll size because the loop doesn't end while he's on a winning streak. He's gotta win 8 hands in a row to pocket 7 units, and doesn't get any profit back to his roll by winning less than eight hands in a row. I suspect that he'd need to win every hand for a whole [censored] shoe in order to get the kind of upswing he wants.

This is even more retarded than the Martingale. If your friend seriously wants to play that system, just kick him in the nuts and take half his money. He'll be better off that way.
