View Full Version : How often do you get a pair and flop a set?

So two parts...first: how often are you dealt a pocket pair? (I think 1/221 is the number for a specific pair...so is it 14 times per 221 hands for any pair?)

And second, then to flop a set is 1/7 so on average you would be dealt a pair that flops a set (1/7)(14/221) = 14/1547 which is about once per 110.5 hands?.

Could someone confirm those numbers, and what is one standard deviation?

Odds of flopping a set or better are 7.5:1. That's 1/8.5.

p=13/221*1/8.5, which is about 1/144.5

In a sample of n=10,000 hands, 1 sd= sqrt(n*p*(1-p))= 8.3
