Wellt, I have played poker off and on, throughout my college days. I have read several books, and learned somewhat from them, but i still consider myself a new/inexeperienced player, even though i've been playing for 5 years coming up (between homegames/online/some casino)... With graduation coming up, i've decided to look into poker a little more seriously, for when i have enough money to start an adequate bankroll instead of barely having one at times... I have the following books, all ready usually once, sometimes twice:

Theory of Poker
Holdem Poker for Advanced Players
Small Stakes Holdem: Winning big with expert play
SuperSystem
Tournament Poker for advanced players
Winning low limit holdem
Internet Texas Holdem

and a couple others i can't find/remember...

My question is though, what would you recommend me getting/reading? I haven't played in a bit, took a break to get caught up in school, and don't know what the leading books are out there. I am interested in Limit play, I like tournaments/no-limit, but prefer limit play.

Anyone have any recommendations on a "power course to poker" so to speak? what to read while i try to save for a bankroll? Im not looking to make this my career, thats a dream that i don't want to go for yet, but I DO want to become a winning player.

Any suggestions are welcome, whether to stick with the books i have, or to pick up new books.

There's no sense in cramming more information in your head than you are ready to handle. Just apply what you've learned from the books you have and make sure you have a good grasp on them.

It depends of what you wanna play and do ... you have a first class library albeit mostly geared at ringgames (and perhaps mostly limit texas hold'em)

If that is your game and you enjoy it, no bad things will happen.

If you get bored, which does take some time .. then you can look into either Stud, Omaha, SNG's or MTT's which all come with their own set of books/tools

I like the books you have. I'd re-read them and keep going.

If I were you I'd add in Roy Cooke's "The Play of Hands 2". He discusses topics that come up in actual hands, and he really lets you inside his thinking when these situations come up.

Well there you go then. Focus on that. The Holy Trilogy of limit hold'em is:

Small Stakes Hold'em
Theory of Poker
Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players

Read those three books, cover to cover, one after the other, three times.

Get Poker Academy and Poker Tracker. Crank out 500 hands a day in Poker Academy. It will take you less than a month to grind out 10,000 hands.

Import the hand histories into Poker Tracker and analise your play. Look for leaks, and plug them.

Haunt the Small Stakes & Internet forums here on 2+2. Grunch and ask questions. Post the hands you had trouble with and ask others how they would have played it.

Do all that, and in just a month your kung fu will be strong.
