I'm surprised I don't see a Triple Crown thread in here (I don't usually read this forum).

Any other horse bettors here? I prefer to wait until the Belmont to bet. I hit an across the board bet with Victory Gallop's photo finish in 1998, and again with the-horse-i-can-never-remember-the-name-of that Pat Day rode to a 18-1 in 2000 or 2001 (I was there, it was a blur of smoking jib in the porta potty and slamming beers and running to the betting windows and being the only person cheering in the grandstands when the race was over and paying for a trip to Cedar Point to ride Millenium Force with the winnnigs).

I look for a horse that closes at the end of its longer past races. It doesn't matter if they won as other than the Derby and the Preakness, not many have run over 1-1/8 (or 1 for some). The 1-1/2 so favors a horse that kept leaving something in the tank in its previous races.

And I like to box a lot of horses in a $2 Exacta. Reduces variance.

Right, it's a sport. I'm an idiot. That is all.
