I am at work. Just starting up this thread to give myself something to read, and also to start a convincing argument for me to leave early to play poker.

if it helps, i'm working from home today - i.e. playing poker

Nice. Well, I got in at 10:30 for a meeting. Now, I am going out to lunch. When I get back, I plan on working for a solid 1-2 hours, before returning to my real office. BTW, is there a $50 NL tourney at 3 today? Is that an everyday MTT? If so, I am out by 2:15 (to work from home for the rest of the day of course)!!!

Bestcellar -

I normally push my first few hands and show them if nobody calls and they were a bad hand. I never show my good hands if I push and nobody calls.

Then I back off and only push certain hands. Any pair, suited connectors, 1 gappers suited, 2 gappers suited, and any two cards T or better, most suited aces, and usually A9+.

I try to stay away from pushing hands like 82 or 94 and the like. You'll still get plenty of action especially when everyone folds and you show some 6 or 7 high hands.

If I double up early I normally back off some more. If it's folded to me in the cutoff, button, or blinds and I haven't pushed in a while I will push almost any two and then show them so that the table thinks I'm still pushing crap.

Other thing to watch is when a tight player enters the pot or raises. There are certain people at the table who will gamble with you at least a little maybe calling you with JT or A7. Then there are others who will only play monsters and expect you to still play your crap against them. I usually like to say 'F' them and aviod playing if they come into the pot and I don't have a big hand.

Nice job on the 42 rebuys though... it was fun to watch.

Edit: Also, like Dad57 was saying. If you back off and only push select hands a lot of the time another player will take over for you as the maniac. However if you're pushing every hand then they will just let you take over the role unless you get lucky and build a big stack quick.

well badger, usually I win one of my first ten hands or 15 hands. I do usually slow down at 6k, but I think I had something like AQ and I had to get all in with it and lose a flip when 66 flopped a set. Couple of times I had it all in with JJ<AK, TT<AQ and AJ<AQ. I just couldn't win a hand. I think I may have spilled about $150 more than I would've employing your strategy, but man. What an hour.

I will keep that mind in the future though. Sometimes I press a little too much.

19k, in for $431. I need to FT to win my money back...

Yeah, you really should have won a hand earlier.

We were at the bubble, and it was a button raise.

And the guy was super weak tight.

Not to mention he used his entire clock before making the call.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention Herschel was here.

WPTHero unfortunately missed the last call /images/graemlins/frown.gif

He played a very good game though!

I'm running stupidly well at this game with 4 cards. Massive chip leader down to 3 tables...I may have more chips than the rest of table combined.

I basically think this thing is over now. We just retook the lead in Cat A, got 5 grade points and tacked on about 900 or so onto the top 25 to get over 7000. Ummm... Ship it?

i wish there were an easy way to update the scores daily.....

is there anyway in hell lee jones would allow you to request the may tlb scores for everyone included in the challenge?

also, congrats on the cat A wins tonight. however, i'd be worried about the B/C categories if i were you...

team teh awesome ftw

Jurollo

Well a sorta easy way to do it would be to put the top 20 scores from each category on here and if someone beats that we can update from there. Perhaps we can do that for last week.

Doing ok in the 55k, was running over the table when my computer locked up, and forced me away from the table for like 20 minutes. Now down to 252k after running KQ into JJ.

no sir. my teammates have been steadily gaining points, but I'm about to have a breakout week. my last final is done at 12 pm monday. I will be playing at least 12 hours monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and possibly friday. I would go ahead and GUARANTEE a tlb weekly win, but with the sunday tourney being a 215 the winner could be hard to catch. however, I will have an extremely lucrative week, and by the end of it team funki should be on top of the rankings. just letting you all know.

Out 14th....bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech, stopped and went with 44 on a 822 board, got called by A5o, turn A, i'm done.

Also, lost with KTs vs. A8s; was trying to induce a resteal by raising 3x from the SB, and I think KTs is a solid call against a resteal range when the pot's laying me like 3:2. Oh well. The 55k is the most frustrating tournament on 'stars and it's not even close. But it's still my crack, meth, and heroin all rolled into one.
