A friend of mine is considering playing solely on stars.

My question is,what would it take to achieve the 3,000,000 points required for this.

He 8 tables 3-6 to 10-20 playing around 30 hours a week.

How long would this take?

If calculations have been already made a link would be great.I tried searching but nothing came up.

thanks.

Rough calculations to get 3 mil FPP:

Forever.

I too have wondered about this. Rough calculations:

2 dollars taken from most raised pots in 5/10(average stake)
1 point for every dollar taken + 100% (assumed) goldstar bonus status = 2 points per dollar
400 points/100 hands

Oops, you gotta be Supernova to qualify for the porsche, so the bonus is 250%. 3.5 points per dollar.

1000 hands would be 7500 points approx?

400,000 hands would get you the 3,000,000 points.

I don't play on stars so I don't know how they calculate their point system. But if 400,000 hands is a close approximation, then this should not take forever.

Under 2 years by my calculations.

If anyone can confirm this, that would be great.

Thanks Doc for the links,

So playing 5/10 average stakes,is 400,000 hands a close enough figure to assume for the 3,000,000 points required?

If all the numbers so far are true, and he 8 tables 30 hours a day, it would take him 5 months.

Well he only needs to find 6 more hours a day and there he goes

Do we have more than 24 hours a day now. When did that change? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ok so the numbers are wrong.Anyone have a better idea?

It is not 3.5 points per dollar.

You only can get 1 point per hand.

The way you are doing it would ROCK. But unfortunately there are no multi-point hands.

But this would mean an absolute minimum of 3,000,000 hands and more like 6,000,000. This also can't be right. Can it?

Oops, i mixed up the tournament juice and the cash game rake. You do still get the multiplier for Supernova though, so its 3.5 points per raked hand, so pretty much 900k hands.

8-tabling full-ring (I'm assuming) should be perhaps 450 VPP/hr.

So this might be 13.5k VPP per week.

We'll assume that he sticks to a straight schedule of 30 hours per week. So once he reaches platinum he's going to stay there (and not take 2 months off and fall back to bronze).

First 100,000 raked-hands (VPP) = 242,250 FPP I believe.

3000000-242250 = 2,757,750 left to go once he hits supernova.

This is another 787929 VPP.

So 888,000 VPP in total approximately.

888000/13500

At 13.5k VPP's/wk he could (generously) get there in 66 weeks. Probably closer to 70-75 weeks realistically. I may have been optimistic on number of raked-hands per hour.

Of course, he'll be able to determine fairly quickly if he's getting 450VPP/hour and/or 13.5VPP/week.

If you mean 900k RAKED-hands then you are pretty much correct (I came up with about 888k so we're close enough).

But it's not just 900k total hands. They have to be raked.

900k hands seems more like it.

This would be under 2 years.

I don't need exact calculations just a good idea of what it would take.

So is 900k hands close enough?

JOEL_

Raked hands.I see.So at those limits 3-6 to 10-20 what percentage of the hands get raked on stars?

Just as an aside, there was a thread on P5's last week wondering if anybody had got one yet. One of the hosts confirmed that yes, one person had ordered the porsche so far, but wasn't allowed divulge the name.
