WHERE THE [censored] ARE MY FINGERS!

BadgerPro

I'm already in the 55k after but after that I'm done with tourneys for the week.

In the stuper I won two hands, both times I got my money in behind:

AQ vs JJ on a 5JQ flop - I luckboxed and went runner KT.
67s v AJo - pushed it short stacked and caught a 7 on the turn.

The two big hands I lost: AK v TT - A on flop T on turn.
Then my knock out hand A7 v KJs - 456 flop and then J on turn.

And then this in my 6 handed tourney:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool (http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php) from FlopTurnRiver.com (http://www.flopturnriver.com) (Format: 2+2 Forums)

I don't know if I'm just burnt out from tourneys and not playing well or if I'm just getting unlucky but I need to get away from it for a couple days. It seems like eveytime I miss a flop I bet and get raised and when I hit I bet and just get folds.

I'll be in cash games for a bit making money and earning those double VPPs.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would kill to win an important coin flip...I can't lose them though after I get crippled and am all-in for my last ante.

I'm also taking some time off. Didn't play today and have a family reunion this weekend (and then another trip next weekend, either Turning Stone or more family...probably family). I may be able to find time to win the million on sunday though.

AA<KK all in on J-high flop in $20. Then, with 14 left in a $50, I'm real proud of myself for playing a very patient red zone game since before the bubble (at 27) and not going all maniac as I've been doing lately. I finally pick up KK in the SB and lose my ass to T9s.

Hoping I'm way ahead, but no, I'm in a coinflip. My first, and only, coinflip of the tourney. Winning this pot puts me top ten in the tourney and having perfect position on the only other two big stacks on my table. Oh and the bubble was coming up and all the stacks behind me were pretty tight and wouldn't play back at me without a hand.

BUT NO I CAN'T WIN ANOTHER [censored] IMPORTANT HAND! SERIOUSLY I'VE BEEN [censored] CARD DEAD ALL [censored] MONTH AND I AM FINALLY MAKING A [censored] RUN IN A TOURNEY AND I LOSE ANOTHER HUGE [censored] POT!

I have been running bad for 2 to 3 months now, and I think that if it were not for this contest, I would take the rest of the month off. I have reached a point where I am not sure that I even understand the basics of Tournament Poker. I need a score so bad /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've officially decided that I'm not cut out for donkaments. How anyone can play these regularly and still enjoy them I will never understand.

I am consistently too impatient and make the stupidest plays ever when I am card dead. In my last 4/180 I raise in MP with QJo (1st questionable play), the guy to my left minireraises, theres a cold caller, I call getting good odds OOP (probably mandatory). Then on the Jxx suited board (of which suit I don't have) I just shove for like 2/3 pot and get called by KK and AJ. What am I doing...I had an average stack with M of like 11 before that hand, but instead of just open folding that garbage I try to bully the table which is completely USELESS in micros.

Anyone have any advice? I consistently find myself unable to just sit back and wait for hands. I feel like I always have to be doing something at the table. Do others have this problem? I feel like I know what I am doing but just completely throw all my knowledge out the window when I am at the table..../images/graemlins/confused.gif

maybe try playing more tables. then you won't get bored and try to LAG. (not that raising w/ QJ is necesarily lag)

That stuff does happen. I mean, once you are there what are you going to do, fold to the minraise in a low liomit tourney (with a read maybe you could)? You COULD check the flop, and then maybe fold depending on the action, but going for the pot with top pair isn't so horrible. I mean, in micros, there are times where I've seen guys turn up garbage in hands like these. Yes, you could of avoided the situation althogher and whatnot, but this kind of stuff will happen, and you really shouldn't beat yourself up over it.

Plus, there are times you will be making seemingly donk plays that are actually correct. You can't let these types of losses affect your ability to make those plays when you know you should, even though there is always the possibility that the result will be the same. In order to win in tournaments, you will most definately be putting yourself in situations ocassionally where you would be almost emnarrassed if you actually had to show down and lose the hand. This particular play may have been incorrect, or it may have not. That doesn't even really matter. Who cares? You could of just as easily been dealt AA that hand, gotten allin, and lost. Just take it in stride, learn from it if you can, and move on.

So, don't let stuff like this scare you from betting with marginal hands when the situation warrants it (DO make sure the situation DOES actually warrant it and don't overdo it when you shouldn't). You have to take it in stride and move on. If you know what you are doing (and maybe even if you don't), you should be able to just press on and you will make some scores. You should multitable too, as Exit said. It really helps. I usually do 4, but the more the better really.

F the month of May. Granted, I had a March with MTT results few have had, but May is f*ing making me batty as I am living the flipside this month on bizarro Poker Stars and this damn contest. Bubbled everything in sight (provided I made it past the first level), lost with quads, vomited in my mouth twice to someone hitting their one outer, and shoveled more donkey shiite than any human ever should. I changed my avatar, my table graphics, and created a shrine to Lee Jones - yet the Doomswitch is still chasing me down.

However, I have enjoyed paying closer attention to who is at my table and am thankful for the opportunity to play with you all (although Gobbo's choice to draft me is about as questionable as his turn call with 44 in the party special tonight).

When I push in with AK or AQ and get called by live broadway cards like Q10,QJ vs AK or KJ,K10,J10 suited vs AQ I can pretty much type in "gg". Its getting ridiculous.

I havent cashed in forever. I lost 1/20th of my bankroll last week playing blackjack on PartyPoker (I lost 8 hands in a row and I believe I know what Im doing playing blackjack).

I keep getting sucked out in cash games on the river when I get my money in good on the flop.

Yeah, I love poker!

yeah wtf? why cant i win at roulette? my girlfriend wins all the time and i use the same strategy as her too of waiting until theirs at least 8 or 9 reds in a row and then betting on black since the ball should "remember" that it went the other color a bunch of times in a row and it "has to" do something different cuz like what are the odds itll go the same 10 in a row is like 1/600 or something? this never works for me though but it always works for her. wtf am i doing wrong?

I honestly think i've lost my poker playing ability. I'm not getting bad beat or anything, I'm just getting the crap knocked out of me by cards or players or whatever else. For example... the other night I was UTG and I raised 5x with AKspades(blinds where like level 5 or 6 I think) and I got 5 callers and a flop of 9TJ all Diamonds. Spread this kind of crap out all over my tournments and poof I'm offically a donkey /images/graemlins/frown.gif....

<~~~ Take deep breath
<~~~ Blames not going to church
<~~~ Blames himself for having a ton of trouble IDing problems in his game
<~~~ Blames everyone else for getting lucky to much
<~~~ finally decides it's just poker and ends rant.

Party's doomswitch duration? - Forever apparently. AA < K10o and 2 hands into the second hour I go from 14k to my 640 towards the million will irrevocably be deposited with someone else. For a while, I changed the table image to one that says "Party is not really the reason you keep breaking mice" but I came to realize that is a lie and have switched to something pink and brown that the psych ward said will calm the negative voices I'm hearing.

Good to know I'm not the only one running awful. I've been basically card dead for a week. The few decent hands I've had either been: A. Overpair vs. better Overpair (which because I suck, I can NEVER get away from); or, B. Dominating hands all-in never holding up.

damn wish i had seen this thread earlier, I can't find hh now. I'm on the worst run of my poker career so far.

Here's a story from rock bottom.

So I'm playing the 3r, well because its so cheap, easy, I've dominated it in the past, and I'm on a horrible streak of cards. I love the 3r. Anyway, I build up my stack, we get into the money, I have a very large stack, then:

AA vs QQ vs AQs all in preflop, spades come, AQ wins.
5 mins later
AQ vs A9 all in preflop, obv 9 flops, not that bad.
10 mins later
AA vs QQ all in preflop, Q spikes
very next hand
99 vs 108s all in preflop, I still have a playable stack, 8 flops, 10 rivers. out whatever, gotta come like top 3 to get anything worthwhile, I wanted a ft so bad though

as this is going on, I'm building a nice stack in a 30+3 DS tourney on Full Tilt. As I bust in the 3r, its about 5 places from the money and the bubble play is treating me well. 2 places from money, my eye is on 1st. KK vs AA, can't suck out, bubble. I laughed, I was past getting mad.

oh i forgot the omaha tourney the next day where I had a guy dead to running 7s or perfect perfect straight, turn 7 river 7, and another guy dead to the running flush. turn diamond, river diamond. I made the first pay level still, yay.

awful. and yeah, the chat sucks ass. someone makes a bad play? let it be. someone makes a good play and sucks out? let it be. someone makes a bad play and sucks out? let it be.

that's poker.

I lost AJ v AT, KQ v 99, and QQ v AQ in the stars million today. that's a $500 buyin, with almost 200 thousand dollars for first place. the people who went home with the money were really bad. you know what I did when I lost? I said nh, gg, gl.

Ansky
05-29-2006, 04:11 AM
Oooooo funki are we playing that game now?

So w/ 60 left in the million last week, I open utg, sb shoves for 12x, bb reshoves with about 15x, and i insta call my last 10x more with KK. Sb has QQ... and bb has AQo!
3x avg stack in the pot, I'd be #4 in chips, obv A flops gg. I say nh gl and leave.

Today with 10 left in a 100r satellite to WPT paris, I get all in with AA vs KK. massive pot. K on turn. o well.

anyway, yeah, what funkii said, [censored] happens, deal with it and show some class... we don't want to all be hellmuths and matusows.

NHFunkii
05-29-2006, 04:30 AM
we're not playing that game, it's not the point. I'm sure we could both go on for days about the beats we've had, and also the beats we've put on people. it's irrelevant. yeah, the true point is: hellmuth and matusow are bad at poker - do not emulate them.

...yet!

No, I've definitely gotten out of control. Could be partially because I haven't played much this month so when I do I'm itchy to get into like every pot I plausibly can, partially because I'm still readjusting from Turning Stone where the antes were so massive it was profitable to do things like raise 4 times a round, etc.

I was never very "ABC" but I used to not nearly look for the excuses to play hands that I have been. I always had a good reason even for doing the seemingly ridiculous.

OTOH other parts of my game have improved; I've gotten better at value betting thinner, somewhat better at hand reading (but not enough to play 42/30 or whatever it is I've been running the last couple weeks), etc.

A particular PP is 1/221. So QQ+ is 3/221, (1-3/221)^# players to act, so JJ UTG would be about 1 in 8.6

Christ I'm so sick of my TT-QQ running into AA-KK late in tournies. Every time the board shows 3 undercards too. The one time I had KK vs. JJ, a J flops and out in like 7th. It's been about 15 times in 3 days. Not to mention AA < KJ and QT. Guy just got KK UTG twice in a row and AA once inbetween.

Coupled with the fact that I freakin suck, this only makes it worse.

My whine skills > theirs however.

Why do I always hit a downswing when I start a new thing?

Can someone please confirm that the 20/180s are very similar to the 4/180s, so that I can rest assured that this is a swing and not a failure to adjust?

that 10/25 on ub is pretty psycho aggro, but really bad LAGtard style.

oh and this is the first time in probably like 8 months that I can honestly say I have gone on full blown tilt. Dusted off a few more buy ins. What a [censored] day in poker. I guess I'll have to wake up at 1:14 and win the stars 300.

god dammit. i didnt post my 40k bad beat last night when my two pair on the flop << AA hitting trips on the turn after the money went in.

but i should have since then i titled out of $40 tourney that i only sort of signed up for since i was still in the 40k but then after that beat it made me sick to look at the computer screen after all day like that so i then called off all my chips when my AK of spades kit a king high flop with two spades but of course the guys got KK for trips kings and i knew i was beat and of course no [censored] spade

so then im really on tilt and need to start drinking alot to calm myself down and so i go to feel like [censored] this morning and then it picks up right where it left off last night in a $20 this morning didnt even get a chance to drink my fng coffee yet two pair again on the flop << weak ass flush draw. wtf who put the goddam evil eye on me?

I think the 4s are harder.

Scenario; You find TT in late position. 5 limpers so you make a decent good raise. 4/5 limpers call. Obv one of them will break your tens.

Lol.. how come everyone I show that hand to tells me I misplayed the turn? The turn is so obviously correct. I think people in general hate calling down.

I should've thought longer on the river. The increased bet size is a pretty obvious tell... I don't think it's even that close. Just sucks to put him on exactly Ax/images/graemlins/spade.gif.

thers no way this is possible. i know this stuff happenes, but how does it keep happening to the same guy? this is unreal. im going to call guiness soon. this same thing happened to me with kings twice recently when i lost to both of the retards who were in the pot with junk. this is especially gay too since it spent a bunch on rebuys to get that stack and if i won that pot i would had close to 80k chips. im gonna throw up something

look at the chipstacks, the monster CL is an ultra donk who is LITERALLY making it 35k or more to go each and every hand. I find AJ utg and raise, when he reraises I figure to be WAY ahead of his range, given the fact that he has bet out a ridiculous amount the last 12 or so hands in a row...
