View Full Version : Party 1/2 6max vs Stars 2/4 Full ?

I have a few bonuses to clear at Stars and the 1/2 6max games there havn't been too soft really so far, and clear at a snails pace (I could just be at bad tables, I tend to hang around more than shop around). The 2/4 Full Ring games clear nicely and I am thinking of just giving that a shot (I have played maybe 350 hands of 2/4 lifetime). How do the 2/4 FR games play usually, tough, soft, tight, pretty good mix? Compared to Party 1/2 6max, if that makes sense. I guess I am looking for something along the lines of "If you beat 1/2...you'll be fine" or "Stay away...bad mojo".

Just trying to plan my month...my wife says play more poker!$!$!$! I think she still loves me though.

My experience with Stars 2/4 is that it's stupidly tight. I frequently find myself at tables with VP < 25% and average pots of like 3.5 BBs.

Like you said, bonuses clear pretty fast at that level. But it's about the closest thing to the opposite of Party 1/2 6max I can imagine.

I'm thinking your sample size at 2/4 full is WAAY too small. 2/4 full ring is a LOT tighter than 1/2 6max. You can't even compare the two. Also, if you find Stars' 1/2 6max games to not be soft, you aren't selecting your tables well enough. There are plenty of soft 1/2 6max games there. Overall, unless 2/4 full is your game, don't play it just to clear a bonus. The $120 bonus is only 30BB, so it won't take much of a downswing there to wipe away your bonus, especially if you don't have experience in 2/4 full.

2/4 Full is not my game, although I don't know that for sure until I run at it! I took a shot at 1/2 6max in Feb or March and have been playing it exclusivly since. Ran well so far. I would be moving up not just because of the bonus but also because it seems to be the next logical upward step and I am rolled for it as well. Thing85, you make a good point about it being only 30BB! I guess I will just take a shot and see how it goes. If I run well I'll keep it up, if not... these bonuses don't expire so no need to hurry.

It's kinda like pure insanity that 2/4 full on a number of sites is like 20% vpip.

Live play @10/20 is like 10 times looser...

The majority of people who only play 10/20 live would get killed online in games as small as 2/4....

just put in the extra time at 1/2 dude. sucks it clears slower but you will most likey end up ahead at 1/2 short then at 2/4 full.

Well the concensus seems to go against my plan, which I obvioulsy lacked comfidence in to begin with, so back to 1/2 6max for a spell, nice that Stars is offering the double FPPs right now! I am not going to lie though, I will take a couple shots...on the off chance that I am the best 2/4 player of all time and just havn't realized it yet. Hate to miss that boat! Thanks for the tips.

I am going from playing maybe 12 hours a week to 30 hours a week starting Monday. And my gameplan keeps changing. Any assistance is this endeavor would be vastly appreciated btw. I currently have about $2500 roll, whore party, empire, stars, river belle, betfred, and paradise. This is it. no rb anywhere. Cryptos?

If you play SH, why not $2/4 6-max?

2/4 full ring is meh compared to 1/2 6m. i'm working up the roll for 2/4 6m but i bet it'd be hot...?

I guess I thought 2/4 6max would be tougher than 2/4 Full.

The waitresses give you a chip with your drink. And the dealers give your an extra chip or two with every pot you win.
