w00t, I don't have to start a new thread for this.

Are there any regulars here willing to review 1 or 2 thousand hands? It'll just be a few sessions, no filtering.

I'm really looking for a mentor to point out the stupid leaks in my game that occur over and over that I'm not even seing.

Please PM with your price. I hope this isn't too ridiculous to ask.

dwarrior,

ive got some time on my hands, so ill do it if you like.

ajmargarine

I'm posting this as an FYI on common rates and hand #'s and time investment:

I've reviewed some NL50 players' sessions in the past. I charged one buy-in which seemed fair to me and the reviewees. This was for up to 300 hands. IMO, you could add a few hands for that price, maybe 50 more. A decent reviewer will take at least 3-4 hours to help the mentoree. A few hours in the initial review, followed by some Q&A back and forth afterwards. 1-2K hands is alot. And, importing the hh's into PT and watching them in the reviewer is the easiest way, imo, to review.

Grunch
07-10-2006, 03:18 PM
I'll just add this, perspecive from the other side.

I've gotten coaching several times, and I have never sent more than 300 hands. I think 300 is enough. Find some problems, fix them, maybe send more hands (for another payment, of course). Iterate through this process until you are twice the poker player you used to be.

avfletch
07-10-2006, 03:21 PM
AJ and Grunch.

Are you referring to a block of 300 hands as played or 300 hands as chosen by the mentee?

Grunch
07-10-2006, 03:22 PM
300 as played. Usually includes ~200 folds. The folds are good for criticism too. You can see where you're missing value, and I think the hands you fold speak directly to your attitude toward the game overall. JMO

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Although most of the folds are real standard and boring, some are missed opportunities.

And, I got 2 pm's about replaying hands in PT. So, for all:

Just highlight a session in PT in "session notes". Go to "game notes". Click on the header "Game #". This will make the hands come up in order as they are inverted as the default. Click on the first hand. It'll come up as text, then there is a playback this hand button, hit that. Upper left hand corner in the playback area there are arrows to go on to the next hand and that'll replay the session for you as you go on.

I don't exactly understand how this mentoring thang works. Like does the mentor get money? Does the protege actually have to be good to start out with? Does the protege actually learn that much faster than they would on their own?
